21-23 June G.Berembun & Ipoh
Found this first hike with WLC on Singapore Hikers "event" page on FB.
Managed to ask XM & Noi along. We initially wanted to go to Irau for the mossy forest, but the event was closed because of limited permits.
The organiser then recommended us to go to Berembun for similar mossy forest...

Arrival at Cameron before 7 am. We all managed to sleep.. probably that's why no motion sickness.
We initially were told we gonna have breakfast at Mcdonalds, but looks like it will not open until 8 am.
Misty
Burger King was also not open so early.
Our breakfast in Family mart.
From breakfast place, we need to drive to the starting point of our hike (~15 mins).
And then walk another 15 mins to the entrance
Start time: 838 am
Warm up time
That's our local guides - a leader in front and a sweeper behind
16 of us on this hike, including 2 team leaders from WLC, Angeline & Khim.
The initial hike was to start from trail 6, but there were fallen trees from the overnight thunderstorm. We started from the longer trail 4 instead.
That's our sweeper
Getting to know Khim
Taking off jacket, getting hot after start to perspire
Water break at the first landing
A cute Chewbacca
Cute moss
Ribbons show that we were in the right track
Khim waiting for us at the first hut as we arrived around 1030 am.
We took snacks, rested for 45 mins and moved off at 1115 am. Noi was still not in sight as we leave.
The first 1.5 hrs was a mixture of ups and downs for us and XM and I could manage quite well, but we realised it might be bit challenging for Noi.
We had been warned by Khim that the next 1 hour will be quite steep all the way up to the peak. 😱
Getting steep..
there were many breathless moments, had to stop few times along the way to catch back breath before moving on.
Arrived at summit 12 pm, just nice for lunch
Noi arrived some 20 mins later
The malay gals who joined us.
On the move again at 1 pm. We will get steep slopes down all the way for the next 2 km.
I started to break away from the gals after realising how steep it was to get down.
Wanted to go faster to get out of the place .. haha
Really deep and muddy gorges that were difficult to climb
Met Cheok and walked with him
Reached the bottom at 222 pm, the other 2 came later
Tea planation
Drying our shoes under the sun, after washed
Remember to find the corn when in Cameron the next time
Car sick - vomited after waking up from short nap on bus while on the way down Cameron.
2 hrs 15 mins later, we arrived in Ipoh, sharing the room with Khim
Took panadol and just got better during dinner time
Souvenir time - the peanut candy supposed to be good here
Tofu hua too😋
We did it! Our first climb up a mountain!
It rained the night before and hence, the terrain we climbed was slippery along the way.
Nevertheless, we did quite well for a first!! Great job!
