Day 2 started very early from 6 plus. The day will be spent in Bako National park. We booked a package online from the bako national park website. The day tour from 830am~2pm includes transport to & fro the hotel, boat ride to Bako, lunch and of course a guide who will bring us through the hike.
Breakfast at Open air market. It is not exactly very near our hostel but since we are up early, we might as well walk there. In the morning, the market sells a different set of food from the night. We had kolomee (again), wanton mee and fried kway teow.

We are all ready to go, as you can see we are covered from top to bottom as we heard too much about mosquitoes and sandflies. Applying insert repellent is also a must.

Blue colored crabs

Setting off...we understood from the guide that Bako is not an island.. however as area around the place is covered by rivers, it wll be easier to get to the place by boat.

Approaching Bako National park. Beautiful limestone rocks await us. No shoes allowed as we get off the boat, as we might kill any sea creatures on the sand.

Bako National park. hiking about to start. Briefing before we go: the shortest route to hike is 800m, and we are taking the hike with a ferry ride, then climb up a sandstone cliff. Although the route is short, there will be lots of ups & downs, big tree roots, uneven grounds. Before we go, the guide brought us around to look at what is unique to the place - the nature, the animals, and not forgetting the long house.

Natural honey can be found here.

Mother-in-law's tongue?

Bird's nest

Can you spot the flying lemur?

SSSSSsss..

Hiking starts.

Beware of buayas

Saw someone selling baby sharks along the way

As we have exceeded the time for the tour, the guide took us to a nearby hawker for lunch after we docked. The food looks nice, but overall taste was so so.

Rested at our hostel and went back to Chinatown for dinner.. to "Ling Loong Seafood" which is highly recommended by Noi.

Saw a procession and the road was sealed off, however we managed to find a massage place nearby.

Supper near our hostel.. late night teochew porridge @Lau Ya Keng
