Yatsushiro Port, Kora Taisha, Yame farmstay

22Apr~6May2023 Around Kyushu in 2 weeks - day

Good morning, Mr Sun!
Gotta get the day view of the containers.
Weather will be good for us for the whole day.

We thought breakfast was not provided,
but they provided packet food for us to microwave in our rooms.

And we also had free coffee at the reception.

Time to head to our next destination.
As we were in Yatsushiro, we definitely need to visit Port Yatsushiro.

Kumamon Port Yatsushiro
Kumamon (くまモン) is a mascot created by the government of Kumamoto Prefecture.
Hence, we surely must meet the Kumamons when we were in Kumamoto.

We never forget a souvenir shop

Moving to Kurume next, about 2 hours drive using the toll.

This place has a beautiful view!! 💕
- Kora Taisha Kurume

We found an elevator which Andy took to go up, while we took the steps

At night, the lamps will be lighted up, giving a different feel.

We can see the Kannon of Kurume Naritasan from here 😃

Tired after the climb?

Accompanying Andy to go down by the elevator

Heading to the mountains next.
We gonna stay a night at a mountain farmhouse.

Eating ramen for lunch - 中るラーメン 久留米

Yummy

Happened to see drugstore Mori, Andy wanted to bring us to take a look

Reaching Kurugi

Kurogi no Ofuji 黒木の大藤
Was disappointing when we arrived.. 🤣
Most of the wisteria has wilted and already end of the season

Trying to find happiness from those almost wilting flowers

From Kurogi, its 20mins drive to our overnight destination

It's mountainous and quite deep into the mountains

Arrived!

To our surprise, the owner was not at home.
The part-timer in the house could not find our reservation and told us they did not prepare for our arrival. 😓

This is how the traditional farmhouse of Japan looks.

Here's the farm cat, roaming around

After checking with the owner, they found my email communication with the part-timer who took our reservation. The part-timer had left and now the owner, Jiro is in-charge. The part-timer did not pass much info to Jiro but the email so they did not block our reservation.
The lucky thing was the room that we wanted to reserve was available, so they could let us stay for the night.

However, we were told that the curry place (informed by the previous part-timer)
that we wanted to go for dinner was close for the day and we will not be able to get dinner.
But the good news was the owner was nearby a supermarket and he suggested that he will buy food back for us.

Exploring as soon as our room was settled.
We were also told the sunset here is very beautiful.

The green tea were covered when close to harvesting

Tenku no Chayashiki

Our room was ready by the time we returned from our short walk.

We're gonna finish up the snacks we brought

Time passes so fast and soon the sun was setting.

We returned to the farmhouse and found the owner, Jiro was back with food.
They had set up the pit to prepare for BBQ.

The main chef is Jiro's relative from Spain. There were friends of the Spanish guy, 2 French guys.
And later a Russian doing tea business was here too.
Including us, from Singapore, and SK from Malaysia, plus Jiro's wife from The Philippines, we were indeed an international party that night.
