This time I joined WLC on my own. 😜
Heading to Gunong Arong (240 m) in Mersing.
Passing by Kota Tingi to get to Mersing
Rest stop. There are no toilets at the starting point.
Arriving..
Same local guide from Blue lake, leading us
After warming up, we moved off at 940 am, with a steep start
Reaching the top soon..breathless
Probably did not eat enough breakfast in the morning.
The first 1.2 km (~50 mins) was quite challenging for me as it was steep all the way up,
and there wasn't much break to catch back my breathe.
After topping up with isotonic drink, energy bar, and rested, it was photo time..
It's here that we get the view of the South China sea
Head up the tower to get a better view of the sea
A huge pink "TDK group" was hiking with us
From here, we would be heading down to a next observatory
Next view point
No more breathless as we were just heading down and down
Reached a rest stop, and it was close to lunch time (1145 am),
so the leaders let us have lunch here
Arriving at the beach around 1235 pm.. the leaders let us have a rest and some photo time
But we just hide in the shade.. the "TDK pinkies" were also at the beach so it was quite crowded
We need to walk along the coast under the burning hot sun at 1 pm
The local guide even opened his ☂
It was some distance to walk along the coast/a little forest before we reached here..
Unavoidable to cross this to get to the main land.
Luckily the tide was not as high as the previous trip (which was until the chest)
Is that Tioman?
Headed to a resort for wash up. 5 RM to enter.
2.5 hrs back to JB, it rained a little along the way..
Dinner at Dragon-I
First time trying the dessert here.
To summarise:
The first 1.2 km (~50 mins) was quite challenging as it was quite steep all the way up,
a little bit steep (with ropes) while heading down.
It was quite a long walk along the coast (a little rocky), and there was a crossing depends on the tide.
Worth it for a beautiful view
