BKK 2015, June 18~22 (5D4N) - Day 1

Arrival @ Bangkok, Thailand

The kids were excited to leave home as soon as possible, as this was the day of their long awaited June holiday trip. We left our home at 8.30 am in the morning and arrived early at the airport, with lots of time to spare.

Flight time: 10.55 am
Flight: Airasia FD358
Airport: Changi Terminal 1

After a short 2 and a half hours flight, we arrived in Bangkok!! During the flight, as we were afraid the kids will be hungry, we booked flight meals beforehand. Ashley and me ordered chicken rice, Papa had vegetarian lasagne, and Ally had pancakes. To my surprise, the preordered meals are very reasonably priced at $4~5 range.

Arrival Time: 12.20 pm local time
Airport: Don Mueang Terminal 2

We booked a spacious family car from Oriental Escape in case there'll be long queues at the taxi stand. Upon reaching the arrival hall, we search for a man holding a sign-board with my name and I spotted him within minutes.

Let's change the sim card for our phones
We've been warned before the trip, there may be jams along the way from the airport to the hotel. And plans have been made to book the flight that will arrive after the morning working hours jam. Hence, we are lucky that it took only about 30 mins to arrive at our hotel.

Scene and buildings along the way, not to forget the short jam along Petchburi Road

Hotel: Novotel Platinum Bangkok
Check-in time: 3 pm

As we arrived before 1.30 pm Thailand time, we made our way to the hotel concierge and were told our rooms are not ready yet. And so we left our luggage with the staff and decided to go for some snacks at Platinum fashion mall.

Exploring the area before check-in. First stop, snack time @ Platinum Mall Food Court.

The kids & mummy enjoyed the food in Platinum food court, especially mango sticky rice

Then its time for check-in. Here's the hotel room interior, comfy bed. Interesting glass panel of the bathroom. For our family of four, of course only a king size bed is not enough. The hotel staff has kindly offered to set up a side bed for us for free! 加分!Heehee..

As the first day was set as a free and easy day, the plan was only to explore around Central World, just 5 mins walk from our hotel. We went through few levels in the building and realised the prices are not cheap. It was quite disappointing but quite expected.
For dinner, we went to MK (at level 6) for steamboat. The duck meat and crispy pork was my husband's favourite. As for steamboat, the kurobuta (pork bones) soup is a must try. It was everyone's favourite. Sadap!
Our MK experience
After dinner, we crossed the street over to Big C supermarket, for snacks and bottled water. Also take the chance to get reasonable priced souvenir for family and friends.

Before crossing over to Big C, there is always a pasar malam going on along the street just outside Central World..also no harm to see see look look along the way.

Ending the day with kawai ice creams we saw selling just outside our hotel
