Day 6 was when our adventure started!
One day Mount Fuji tour from Klook package:-
Mt Fuji 5th station (or Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen shrine if Fuji closed), Lake Kawaguchi for lunch, Oshino Hakkai and Gotemba Premium Outlets
Bought breakfast from Shinjuku station as we might take some time to look for the meeting place.
Arrived around 8 am at Shinjuku VIP lounge on level 4.
Excited to set off
Our first sight of Fuji
Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen shrine was our first stop.
A little pity as we could not visit 5th station due to heavy snow
Lake Kawaguchi 河口湖
Our next stop was Kawaguchiko Craft Park for lunch.
Arrived
We can enjoy more Fuji views after lunch.
Hoto noodles are a must-eat when you visit the area.
Before leaving the craft park, have a quick foot dip.
On the way again.
Oshino Hakkai 忍野八海
Walk about 7 mins from where the bus was parked
Let's see what the vendors are selling
Arrived!
Very clear ponds, the water that flowed down from Mount Fuji
More views of Fuji ^-^
The place is so popular now that its so crowded.. very similar to Shirakawa-go.
Try dipping your hands in the cold water for at least 30 seconds
We did not complete all the ponds.. on the way again
Arriving at the next stop - Gotemba Premium Outlets
We will have more time at the outlets compared to the people from the tour
as we will be leaving on our own, to get to Moto-Hakone
From the car park, we will enter the East zone
Again, we could see the majestic Fuji on the left of entrance
Kaimono-shimasu!!
As time was limited, only few brands had been selected.
Cross the bridge of good dream to get to the West zone
Break time.
Leaving around 430 pm just as the sun was setting.
Was worried because I had read before coming that
due to Typhoon Hagibis in Oct 2019, parts of the route from Gora Eki to Moto-Hakone had been destroyed and not yet rebuild. Hence, we enquired earlier at the Information counter and further confirmed that there would be temporary buses available to Moto-Hakone, but bus number was not known. So, instead of direct bus to Kowakien, we had to get to Gora Eki for temporary bus to Kowakien. It would take 3 buses instead of 2 buses to get to Hakone Jinja Iriguchi, our final destination for the day.
Bus headed for Gora Eki. Arrived 510 pm, and it was already dark.
When we alighted at Gora Eki, there were 2 buses waiting.
We checked with the driver and was directed to take the bus that would bring us to Kowakidani Eki (instead of Kowakien), where we could take the same Bus H to get to Hakone-jinja-iriguchi.
After a short ride, we alighted at Kowakidani (~530 pm). The area was very dark and we could not see the roads as there were no streetlights. The only light we had was from a nearby vending machine.
It was also starting to get very cold, and it felt like under 10 degree C to us.
Several buses had went past, and still our bus did not arrive, until ~40 mins later.
Cold and hungry, plus a long wait, this was the bus-stop we can never forget.
Finally arrived at our destination after a short 15 mins ride at 620 pm, which was about the same arrival time which I had informed to the ryokan.
