23-31Oct2025 Jeju&Busan
Good morning from Haeilri.
I woke early in the hope to catch a beautiful sunrise.. but was a little disappointed as my handphone on tripod got knocked down by the wind while catching a timelapse at the balcony. 😞
We'll be spending the day on the nearby Udo island, and by end of the day,
check into another hotel nearer to the airport as we have a flight to catch.
Light breakfast before leaving
By 8am, we were checked-out and headed for Udo island.
As it was ~11mins walk to the ferry terminal,
we decided to walk and leave the car parked (secretly) at the hotel.
Seongsan Pohang Passenger Terminal
It's 10,500 won per pax for a round ferry trip.
Complete 2 of the forms for 5 pax before going.
Managed to board the 830am ferry
Arriving at Cheonjin Terminal Udo 15mins later
First thing to do was to rent a transport to travel around the island.
We were interested in this cute motorcycle,
but do not think we can rent it as none of us has motor license.
Bicycles are out as it will be too slow and difficult to ride over the hilly terrain..
Wanted to get electric bike or car initially.
Then we entered this shop further in and found this!
The shopkeeper from Taiwan, hence could speak mandarin well.
He suggested we take a big buggy for 3 pax and medium buggy for 2 pax.
We had 2 PDL, so we can rent 2 buggies for 5 pax.
He suggest we not take electric bike as the wind was too strong on the island,
and will get knock down easily.
Big buggy cost 100,000 won, and Medium buggy cost 70,000 won
And the shopkeeper charged us cheaper at 150,000 won for a whole day (up to 4pm).
Here are our 2 buggies - Kent and I will drive a vehicle each.
We can park it on anywhere on the island, unlike cars which require parking lots.
The buggy require key to start, but we need not remove the keys after parking as no one will steal the buggies on the island.
Not many cafes are open yet,
finally found a place for breakfast along the west side of the island by 945am.
Solar panels found on the 2nd floor
A group of haenyeo (female free-divers) sitting beside the cafe. They were chitchatting loudly.
The haenyeos started to move off to set off to sea.
Arriving at the most north of the island.
Mangru (Dapdanitap) lighthouse
Very, very windy here.. even parked electric bikes were being knocked down by the wind.
We cannot climb up the lighthouse but can go up the mini stone pyramid (mangru).
Time for some snacks
Hagosudong Beach in the east
We wanted to try peanut ice cream, but there are no seats, and we ended up buying souvenirs.
Cross this bridge to get to a smaller island, Biyangdo
Unable to go to the Biyando lighhouse as tide has covered the path
Peanut field opposite our lunch place
Udoro93
Found another ice cream place where we could sit-in,
near Geommeolle Beach, the black sand beach
Not going to the Udo lighthouse
Wanted to catch the 230pm ferry at first, but as we could not make it,
decided to bring the guys to a cafe, but it seems they were not interested.
So we headed to the ferry terminal and saw a ferry that was about to leave.
We quickly returned our buggies and still made it in time for the ferry at 315pm.
Not sure why there is a ferry at 315pm though..😅
Back to Haeilri by 4pm.
Seongsan Ilchulbong was about to close as we arrived.
The people were still soft in their legs from Hallasan hike, hence, we decided not to climb up.
I wanted to go to Gwangchigi beach, but I guess the GPS gave a wrong point & we could not get there.
Decided to go and check-in hotel first then go for dinner.
Around Follie - we booked a Lodge twin and a Airstream 17ft
The tiny airstream
The only food we did not try was ramen, and I wanted to search for it,
but to no avail. In the end, we went for this Black pork bbq since the rating was good.
Kent fulfilled his wish
Back to house to finish all the food as we would be travelling the next morning.
