10Jan D7 Finland to Sweden, & train to Norway

3-15 Jan 2025 Scandinavia adventure with friends

Happy Friday. It's been a week of travel.
We hoped the travel will not end so soon.

Breakfast started from 730am

The busy owners, Mr Alik and Mdm Teija, of the farmer house preparing breakfast for us.

Their oat porridge with cranberry sauce is really good.

Handing over the cute key after breakfast.

Mdm Teija asked if any lucky person ate an almond (one and only) in the oat porridge.

Departing at 9 am. We're gonna miss the cozy farm house.

On the way

Loving that moon

Crossing the border to Sweden.
It was 10.50 am Finnish time, 9.50 am Swedish time (1 hour behind Finland).

Why are traditional Swedish houses red?

It had been 2 hours since we drove off from Kierinki Village.
We soon arrived for our toilet break at petrol kiosk, OKQ8 in Pajala.

They bought!!

More red houses

Beautiful pink in the horizon

We see the sun again

It was 2.5 hours drive to Kiruna

Arriving at Coop supermarket ~1.15pm, where we will have lunch and shop a little.
We had until 3 pm to leave for the train station, where we will ride the train to Narvik, Norway.

Having lunch at the local burger store

117 SEK (around S$14.47) for a burger meal in Sweden.

Everyone had been buying ginger biscuits, which is the local favourite snack.

I even found and bought a new luggage

Beautiful sun setting as we arrived at Kiruna train station.

Train departing at 3.30 pm

It will be a 3-hours ride

After the beautiful sunset at 4 pm, it became pitched dark..

Drinks were free as the card machine was down.

all we could see was our reflections on the window

This was one of the several stops that the train made to board passengers.

Giap giap

hahahaha

This was all we can see outside

Seat numbers

More water.. as it was getting really heated in the train

Giap .. in the toilet .. again

Alighting soon

Arriving at Narvik, the final stop.

Our lovely driver was there to pick us

Checking-in to Scandic hotel, Norway

It was snowing.. so any chance of seeing aurora??

View from the room - the ski slope

We wanted to clear our cup food, so did not go out for dinner

Up 16th floors to the roof top at 930 pm, again to check if there will be aurora

The view was beautiful.. but it was too cloudy to see any lights

Not so cold in Narvik even though it was snowing.

Long route for the day, including the train ride, and cutting through the 3 countries.
