(Good morning) "Hyvää huomenta" from Saariselkä.
Waking early to clear stuffs and have breakfast, as we needed to check-out early at 845am.
On the road..
Toilet/Lunch stop before Reindeer farm visit.
As it was early and we were still not hungry, so we packed some snacks to eat later.
Sun rising or setting at 1215pm?
Only the sun rays as the sun doesn't rise above the horizon during polar nights in the lapland.
We soon arrived at Jaakkola Reindeer farm, owned by the sami people. "Bures"
Feeding the reindeers first.. then we get to go for a ride thereafter.
We feed the reindeers by the side, as we do not want their long antlers to knock into us.
It seemed very cold.. believed temperature hit -30 degrees?
So cold that any bit of moisture on our beanie, mask, eye lashes, glasses turned frosty.
Keep ourselves warm in the teepee while waiting for our turn to ride.
Warm blueberry with spices to drink as usual.
Time for our ride - 8 couples will ride together each time
Look how squeezy we were behind! 😅
The seat board was too soft for us to move at the last minute, as we were the last to board the ride.
So we were just "stuck" as the reindeers started to move.
The ride was a short 5 mins.
Long distance bus ride to hotel next.
We'll be riding 1.5 hours to a petrol kiosk stop, and then another 2.5 hours to the hotel.
The kiosk is opposite Santa's Village, where we'll visit the day after.
Arrival at Hotel Pikku-Syöte
After leaving our luggage at the lobby, we were immediately shown to the dining area.
The food was really good!
945pm: we gathered at nearby ski slope, short walk from our hotel.
But was soon called off as it was too cloudy.
Not supper.. just clearing the soup we brought.
