D5 Move from 拉萨 to 日喀则

西藏之旅13-22June2025

We gotto checkout by 830am with our luggage.

There will be about 10 hours of travelling, until we reach Shigatse,日喀则.

Lhasa, we will be back.

Arrived at the first toilet break

Full of flies and really bad smell..you won't want me to describe more,

but the memory will be etched in my mind forever.

2hrs later, we arrived at 雅江河谷, 4,280m.

We will be visiting a few observatories along the Yamdrok lake, 羊卓雍错.

雅江河谷 is our first observatory.

The Tibetan Mastiff, the people charge some fees if we wanna take photo with them.

All photos taken were secretly taken from afar.

The goats were the cutest!! 😝

Shuo Fei, a Chinese from Singapore is born in the year of the goat.

Arrival at the next observatory, 羊卓雍错 岗巴拉山顶观景台 G349, 4,998m.

Along the way

Next, we were able to go near the Yamdrok lake, 羊卓雍错 at 4,4441m.

Visiting a nearby rural family house for lunch.

Fried dough sticks

Butter tea and Sweet tea bring served.

Lots of veges, and yak meat potato soup

The food tasted very good, especially the mushrooms and potatos.

Next, looking around the house with their own chapel

Heading to a glacier next

Karola Glacier, 卡若拉冰川

卡若拉冰川 is at a height of 7,191m but this observatory is at 5,020m

A last observatory before we reach 日喀则, with a power station and dam.

Bored as this final stop has all the same sights..standing there to wait

On the way after the 20 mins stop.

Due to strict measures, we need to stop by checkpoints to register our passports & permits.

Saw fields of cabbage & barley (90%), that's about all the vegetation able to grow on this highland.

Along the way, we heard the story of Tibetans and Xinjiang people not being able to own a passport to travel out of their country. 😭

Arriving at our hotel in 日喀则 around 715 pm.

Dinner on our own, so we were out in search for a dinner place.

We were very hungry as it was almost 8 pm.

Thanks to mei for asking, we found a place within 100 m from the hotel, on the 2nd level.

The locals love the 10th panchen Lama and worship him

We ordered claypot herbal chicken soup - the food was really good but portion really too big

We left J to finish the food and get back to hotel to rest,

as he wanted to explore around.
