西藏之旅13-22June2025
珠穆朗玛峰大本营 (Zhūmùlǎngmǎfēng)
This is the day we'll be heading to Everest Base Camp.
Woke early and by 7am, headed for breakfast.
We'll be leaving the hotel at 8am, bringing along only our day bags.
The 3 of us decided to place our large luggage in the hotel, while some opt to put their luggage in the bus.
Bye for now Shigatse, we will be back.
We'll be taking the 318 highway all the way to Everest.
Another scary toilet break
Here's how far we travelled from Shanghai
Entering the Omolangma National nature reserve from here.
Amy asked to help take her photo, and she for me.
Height here: 5,240 m
On the way again
Time for lunch at one of those houses.
This was what the 3 of us ate.
Alighting to register us and get tickets to enter the nature reserve
Going up the bends next
Gawula Pass at 5,198m
But the Himalayas range were covered by clouds
Amongst the clouds
108 bends
Our bus will leave us from here for a night.
We need to transfer to the green bus as it is the only bus to bring us to Everest Base Camp (EBC)
Checking permit as we were at the borders.
Arrived at EBC!!!
Opening ceremony of the base camp
We initially thought our rooms will be a shared 8-bedder.
But we got a very nice room.
We were told the things sold at EBC will be expensive, hence, we brought our own dinner.
Hot water could be found outside within our tent, but it was not as hot as we imagine,
because water cannot boil to 100°C at high altitudes.
The guide gave us 2 cans of oxygen each as we will be sleeping at very high altitude.
Headed out at 8pm with the group to get a view of Everest
It was still very cloudy.
Hug to keep warm
Cloudy closed up
Got to know Shoufei (Sgp Chinese) and Kamil (Polish) better
We can only view the Chang Zheng peak, Everest peaks are behind it, hidden by the clouds.
Sun setting around 915 pm
Singing and dancing to the Tibetan beat
As we were heading back, surprised to find a post office here.
Hurry as they closed at 930 pm
Saw the sky was full of stars that night
It was very windy outside, but managed to setup a stand and completed the shaky star trail by midnight.
