22~28 Oct2014 Day 5 - Harajuku; Shibuya

DAY 5 - HARAJUKU, SHIBUYA

Good morning from Asakusa! Hello from hostel rooftop.

Thinking to have breakfast at somewhere near the hostel, we ended up eating rice meals.. It seems quite difficult to find a place in the area that serve lighter breakfast since we don't want to eat fast food.
Breakfast at Matsuya (松屋)

We arrived at Harajuku  (原宿) early as we planned and headed for Meiji Jingu.

A wedding's being held at the shrine..and look at the cute guests..

Buying charms to keep the family safe and in good health.

Chrysanthemum exhibition outside Meiji Jingu..

We found more cute guests making their way to attend the wedding.. they became the photo attractions of many.

We made our way across the street from Meiji Jingu to Takeshita Dori. It is one of the best shopping streets in Tokyo with many trendy shops and boutiques.. also we found many crepe shops (But it's a pity we did not eat any crepes because the queues were really long).

Look at how packed this street was at 10am on a Sunday morning!!

Must go shops here, Daiso, and further up across at Omotesando, Kiddyland  (where my favourite hello kitty character is being sold)

Along Omotesando, it's Halloween and the street was closed for Halloween parade.

The Simpson's family was there too! This is really cute!

Walk further up along the street across the junction, we get to Aoyama teahouse.. we were there specially for lunch. I found on the web earlier about reviews on the teahouse. In Tokyo, its a must to visit this place. It is not only a teahouse, but a flower market as well. The café is decorated with plants and flowers.. and the food that they sell also taste good.
Look at the queue spotted when we arrived at Aoyama..but we went ahead to queue as we really don't want to miss out this interesting place.

Shibuya is our next stop..where 109 (pronounced as ichi-maru-kyu) is the place we need to head for (it is recommendation by Suenaga san for good shopping). But before that, it is a must to cross the very famous crossing at Shibuya.

Panaroma view of Shibuya crossing.

It's ramen time at Ichiran. Yum!

After walking so much in a day..we decided to call off the trip to Akihabara.
And back to Asakusa where we explored a little bit more around the red bridge and then to the almost empty Nakamise shopping street (shops are already closed at around 7pm).

Oyasuminasai with Mont Blanc dessert..
