We woke at 7am Nova Scotia time on this Saturday morning.
It was calmer and the storm was not as bad as the night before.
The bad news was the power won't be up soon.
Our room was not near the lobby and it was located away from the main building.
Whereas Jason & son had a room with lobby access.
By 8am, we were dressed and about to get out when Jason surprisingly arrived and brought us 2 paper bags of ration food from the recep.
We ate cold sandwiches, oranges from the ration bag and our own snacks.
Generators were used for time being.
After enquiring at the reception, we found out that the whole island of Nova Scotia was out of power.
Hence, we made up our mind to leave the island even though we had booked 2 nights with Best Western Glengarry. We cancelled 1 night and will leave for the next nearest town.
By 1030am, we checked out and decided to try Fredericton
(where we booked a hotel for Monday), to see if they can let us stay 1 day earlier.
About 2 hours drive later, we passed by Sackville and saw some hotels.
We dropped by a restaurant to check the situation in the town and they have electricity and water.
Further checking, the recommended us to stay at Coastal Inn.
We managed to get a last 4-bedder
We went around the town looking for food but many were closed
and the rest (Mac, Tim Hortons) had long waiting times.
We were so glad that there was hot water in the hotel and decided to go back to finish up our cup noodles.
We tried to enter Prince Edward Island (PEI) soon after, but we were stopped by the police at the entrance to the island. It seemed that the island was badly affected by the storm, hence, they are not letting people onto the island.
We made our way to Hopewell Rocks next, which is nearby to the hotel, in the
hope that they were not closed due to the storm.
Jason had checked that currently it was low tide at the area, hence we'll be able to get to the ocean floor.
We arrived around 430pm and seemed that the place was really closed and deserted.
We decided to park near the stop sign and explore around since we were already there.
Managed to still enter since the place is not totally fenced up. 😉
From online, we found the route map of the park too
The ticketing counter was indeed closed, meaning we need not pay for entry. 😉
Here's another place to view the tidal bore
Aftermath of the storm - fallen trees
Another observatory
More and more fallen trees
Cute green toilets
Finally, go down here to get to the rocks
Got a shot before climbing down the stairs.
The sea stacks (also known as flowerpots) come in variety of sizes and shapes
Step.. great that it was low tide..
The mud is quite soft.. we gotta walk slowly in order not to get too dirty
Cute boys
They provided cleaners here to clean our shoes after the walk 😉
Exiting after an interesting hike.. Love the trees and nature here
Arrived at Moncton around 6plus as the sun was about to set
Found Catch22 Lobster Bar and managed to get a 730pm reservation
Taking a walk around while waiting for the reservation time
Beautiful sunset
That's the public toilet - maximum time of usage is 20mins
Back for dinner
Very yummy seafood, we love it
