22Apr~6May2023 Around Kyushu in 2 weeks - day 6
Woke up 530am to catch the misty lake Kirin.
Beautiful...
She wanna show the shoes provided by the hotel
The glowing fish
Sumptuous breakfast from Lawson
On the way again.
The initial plan was to visit a sand bath. However, we checked online the night before and realised that the sand bath had closed down since beginning of April 2023. 😢
The good thing was we would have more time to come back for Yunotsubo street.
The nearby Mount Yufu
Visiting a "hell" in Beppu - Umi Jigoku 海地獄
We only visited one hell since Umi Jigoku has 2 different colored hells and a footbath,
so we think it is more than enough to visit one.
To read more about the hells: https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e4702.html
We checked out the steamed food upon entry (left side)
We see a water lily pond on the right side
Then we arrived at the orange hell
Next, pass through a souvenir shop before getting to the blue hell
From the top
Shopping time!
Brought the people over.
Steamed pudding and ice cream
Heading back to Yufuin
Stopping by Aso-Kuju National Park Sagiridai Overlook along the Yamanami highway
Footbath next
Had some snacks
Yufuin Floral Village
Large size Tako ball, forgot to take a photo of the ball, only the box ya.
The street seems famous for selling croquettes
Heading to beside lake Kirin for lunch
Look at someone enjoying the juice 😅
We were back!
Many other things on the menu was also sold out.
Look at all the snacks we bought before even eating our lunch
And B-Speak
In the end, the confused service people served us 6 plates of bread for 5 of us 🤣
We tried telling the gal who served us but she did not seem to understand.
We also took the chance to eat our cake.
It's the most delicious cake we have ever tasted, soft smooth and not over sweet. 😋
Going to head to Kurokawa onsen, where we will stay for the night
Arriving at Ryokan Sanga 山河.
Sanga is not located near the town centre of Kurokawa onsen,
but as the room comes with private hot bath. With the same price we cannot find a ryokan with private hot spring in the town centre. As it was easy for us to drive from Sanga to the town centre, I decided to book Sanga.
To change into the slippers when we come to the main lobby
えごのき Ego no Ki
Eating again
Heading back for dinner and hot bath.
Getting ready to explore
We found a footbath
Here's the way to the public outdoor path
Starting off with the seasonal appetiser
Dessert - Green tea and strawberry cake was very delicious
Sanga is a very beautiful ryokan. It is located in a secluded forest along a mountain stream.
Welcome tea
Our ryokan was in the east building on level 2
Drove to the Kurokawa onsen town centre as it was a long walk.
Going to take a walk along the shopping street.Booked dinner slot for 7pm
Going to enjoy our kaiseiki ryori
Next up,
our most memorable dish - the raw basashi (horse meat) 🤣Hot bath after dinner.
