Takachiho Gorge, Miyazaki stay

  22Apr~6May2023 Around Kyushu in 2 weeks - day 7

Day 7 will see us moving from Kumamoto to Miyazaki.

The highlight of the day will be the beautiful Takachiho gorge, and nearby unique Tori gate in cave.

We also cannot leave Miyazaki without trying one of the best beef in Japan.

Gonna end of day staying near Aoshima island.

Ohayo gozaimasu from Sanga ryokan! More hot bath in the morning.

We also cannot miss the public outdoor bath. This require reservation, hence we did not enter.

We were all packed and going to check-out straight after breakfast

Moving from Kumamoto Miyazaki next, it will be about 1hr 20mins drive to the next destination.

After driving for 30mins, we stopped at the road side as we found the scenery very beautiful

Still in Kumamoto, that's Oso Dam.

At Takachiho Gorge, we gonna row boats to get close to the waterfall 

We have booked 2 boats at 1130am.

Collecting the tickets for the boat which we reserved online 5 days ago.

First sight of Manai Big Falls

It's lunch time, Nagashi somen restaurant is across the river

We each ordered a set.

Walking along the Takachiho Gorge Footpath to get a different view

Amanoiwato Shrine 天岩戸神社 西本宮,

also in the area is 15mins drive away. From this shrine, we will walk to another interesting shrine,

with a tori gate in a cave

As we were walking along the road, we saw a cute Ice cream cafe,

which we would return for a break later.

We also see many stacks of stones along the way

The best green tea & red bean ice cream is found here 😋😋😋

Heading back the way we came from

Still in Miyazaki,

it would be 2 hours and 30 mins to drive to our next destination for dinner

Miyachiku Beef Teppanyaki Steakhouse

Managed to make an online reservation at 630pm, but we arrived at 6pm 😀

Miyazaki beef is claimed to be the best in Japan

Miyachiku serves each course with salad, dessert and drinks, as well as veges, soup, rice and bread

Everyone ordered the 150g sirloin steak - displaying our 750g chunk of meat

The steak indeed melt in our mouths. A bit oily though.

Really too much food! 😂

Aoshima Grand Hotel, is a beach side hotel minutes walk away from Aoshima island.
